Expanding on the capabilities of the original version, RailWorks went on to develop the concept of Downloadable Content (DLC) addons providing users with optional additional purchases. Operating as Rail Simulator Developments Ltd, the software was rebranded, improved and adapted for the Steam online distribution system.
